The "Arbeitskreis Deutsche England-Forschung" (ADEF) is an association of historians and political scientists who research and teach about Great Britain, the Empire and the Commonwealth. As this "German Association for the Study of British History and Politics" aims to offer a forum for young academics, postgraduates as well as students are very welcome.

ADEF was founded in 1981 by historians and political scientists who wished to coordinate the widespread activities in the area of British Studies. Today ADEF has over 150 members, holds regular annual conferences, publishes a series of journals and awards a dissertation prize.
